'Johnny Puff: Secret Mission', Johnny Depp's New Animated Movie Gets a 2024 Release Date

Johnny Depp’s new movie, Johnny Puff: Secret Mission, now has a release date. According to Deadline, the animated feature has secured a release date for the first quarter of 2024. The movie has already been sold to distributors in Europe, Korea, the Middle East, and Turkey. Discussions are also underway regarding North American distribution.

The movie is a product of the Puffins franchise, itself a spinoff of the Arctic Dogs franchise, and consists of 20 five-minute-long episodes. Targeted towards children, the series follows a group of five Puffins who work for a walrus named Otto and have a unique dialect, and promotes themes including gender equality and environmentalism. Depp voices a puffin named- you guessed it- Johnny Puff.

In addition to the already-existing series and the upcoming animated film, there are plans for an eighteen-episode spinoff called Puffins: Impossible.

The upcoming movie will be produced by Spanish company Melies Producciones, in conjunction with US production companies WWPS and Evolution. Sales will be handled by Italian company Iuvit, who have also worked with features like A Dog’s Tale, The Fall, and Gilgamesh, among others.
