Todd Phillips released a new photo from the upcoming DC sequel Joker: Folie à Deux on Instagram to celebrate the anniversary of the first film, Joker. The photo is of Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck standing in the rain amongst passers-by holding umbrellas. Phillips wrote on the social media post, “Oct 4. Thanks for all the messages. Four years ago, we had quite a ride. Lots of great memories. More to come.”

The first film earned over 1 billion dollars at the global box office, and fans are eager to learn more about the upcoming sequel. Details of the film are being kept under lock and key; however, the public knows Joaquin Phoenix is returning as Gotham’s Crowned Prince of Crime, and Lady Gaga will portray Harley Quinn, the Joker’s love interest. The French phrase ‘Folie à Deux’ translates to “shared madness by two people in close association.” And fans are eager to see the two on the screen together, jumping farther into the “‘madness.” Other cast members include Brendan Gleeson, Zazie Beetz, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey.

The first film, Joker, followed the character Arthur Fleck’s transformation into the Joker. Phoenix’s performance in the film earned him an Oscar.

Joker: Folie à Deux is slated for release on October 4.
