Thanks to new reporting from two prominent industry trades, we might know one of the villains in the upcoming Shawn Levy Star Wars film.

Mia Goth, best known for her roles in films like MaXXXine and for her upcoming appearances in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, has been named by Variety and The Hollywood Reporter as a new addition to the cast of the upcoming film. It is claimed she is taking on the role previously offered to Mikey Madison, before she declined the role.

The Hollywood Reporter has more information, though, stating that Goth’s character is one of the Levy film’s villains, in pursuit of a young individual who finds protection with Ryan Gosling’s character.

The film, which had some details revealed at Star Wars Celebration Japan two months ago, is set to begin production soon with a release date of May 2027. Both Levy and Gosling expressed excitement in the project, with Levy confirming the story will take place roughly five years after the end of the Skywalker Saga.

It would be interesting if Goth’s casting suggests a set of villains who are horror film inspired in contrast to other foes in the film franchise’s past, given her frequent participation in that specific genre. But, we’ll have to wait quite some time for any official confirmation of this casting, and likely many more months after that before her possible performance appears on movie screens.
