Looks like some sweet, sweet music will accompany Thomas Crown! It has been confirmed that award-winning musician and composer Jon Batiste will provide the score for Michael B. Jordan’s upcoming remake of The Thomas Crown Affair! It was confirmed at Amazon-MGM’s Cinemacon panel last night.

One of the most accomplished musicians in the game, Jon Batiste has a career as storied as it is impressive. From 2015 to 2022, he served as bandleader and musical director on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, roles that raised his profile considerably.

In 2020, Batiste made his film scoring debut, providing the score for Pete Docter’s acclaimed Pixar film Soul alongside Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross. The trio won multiple accolades, including the Oscar for Best Original Score, making Batiste only the second Black composer to win, following Herbie Hancock. His 2021 album, We Are, received highly positive reviews and won 5 Grammys from 9 nominations, including Album of the Year. In 2022, he was the subject of the documentary film American Symphony, which earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Original Score for the track It Never Went Away. In 2024, he scored Jason Reitman’s Saturday Night and starred in the film as Billy Preston. Since 2018, he’s received 25 Grammy nominations and has won 8.

The Thomas Crown Affair will be released on March 5th, 2027.
