'Spaceballs: The New One' Trailer Drops

In an age of reboots and remakes, Mel Brooks is seizing his chance to release a proper sequel to Star Wars parody Spaceballs. In the original Spaceballs, a character quips that they’ll return in Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money. That sequel was wholly fictional until recently. In a new trailer, Brooks himself appears on camera to announce the sequel. The sequel will not be called The Search For More Money as Brooks apparently found the money in his basement. Taking inspiration from all the fans asking about the new Spaceballs, Brooks announced it will simply be called Spaceballs: The New One. The movie will be released in theaters on April 23, 2027.

The announcement trailer didn’t have any new footage to show but audiences at Cinemacon were treated to some new footage that will make its way to the internet. Rick Moranis, George Wyner, Daphne Zuniga, Bill Pullman, and Brooks are among the returning cast members joined by Pullman’s son Lewis, Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, and Anthony Carrigan. While the returning cast will reprise their roles, the new roles are still undisclosed. In addition to being in the cast, Brooks will produce, but Josh Greenbaum will direct.
