Michelle Yeoh And Ke Huy Quan Reunite In New Disney+ Trailer For ‘American Born Chinese’

The upcoming Disney+ action-comedy series American Born Chinese will bring back Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan, who worked together on the Academy Award-winning film Everything Everywhere All at Once. Based on Gene Luen Yang’s 2006 graphic novel of the same name, the story follows Jin Wang’s life in a white suburb who begins his adventure with characters from Chinese mythology after meeting a new classmate. 

A new trailer aired during the Academy Awards broadcast with footage including Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan. They are joined by Everything Everywhere All at Once alum Stephanie Hsu, who will guest-star in the series. Other cast members include Yeo Yann Yann, Chin Han, Daniel Wu, and Sidney Taylor. Asian-American actors Poppy Liu, Ronny Chieng, Rosalie Chiang, James Hong, Lisa Liu, Jimmy O. Yang, and Leonard Wu will also have recurring roles.

Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, will direct a number of episodes and also serve as executive producer alongside showrunner Kelvin Yu (Bob’s Burgers). Lucy Liu has also confirmed that she will be directing an episode. 

American Born Chinese premieres on Disney+ on May 24.
