Disney’s long plan regarding its merger with Hulu is taking its next step the following month. According to Bob Iger, the company plans to launch a beta app that combines both Disney+ and Hulu for their bundle subscribers.

For Disney to completely own Hulu there is still a 33% of the company it needs to buy from Comcast. In a recent filing, Disney stated it would pay no less than $8.61 billion. In reality, the numbers could be higher, but that is to be determined by each party’s bankers regarding the market value of Hulu as a whole.

The beta version of this fusion app will launch in December, allowing users to set up and become familiar with all the features within the app. It is also expected to give enough time for parents to set up parental controls, so the adult-oriented Hulu content is not available in plain sight for smaller children. Disney expects the introduction of Hulu to their app will result in increased engagement, greater ad revenues, and lower churn, among other things, expressed Bob Iger.

Finally, the complete acquisition of Hulu and its incorporation into a single app will potentially allow Disney to launch the app globally; as of right now, it is only available in the US.
