Actor Owain Rhys Davies, best known for his role in the series Twin Peaks, passed away in May 2026, as confirmed by his family. He was 44 years old. A cause of death has not been made public at this time. His brother, Rhodri Davies, wrote that the actor “passed suddenly, naturally, and peacefully.”
Davies was born on 20 February 1982, in Cardiff, Wales. His parents were Helen and Conway Davies. Before fully kicking off his career, Davies earned a Bachelor's Degree in Acting at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, and moved on to study in New York at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts as well as The Groundlings. He had an extremely rich and varied career, from stage to television and the silver screen. He won the LA Stage Award for Outstanding Performance for his role as Jonathan Byers in the stage production of UMPO Stranger Things.

Davies is most well-known for his role as Agent Wilson in the murder mystery drama sequel Twin Peaks. Other TV and film credits include Dave in The OA, Mr. Mann in My Dead Ex, Eric in Tall Tales, Marcus in A Serial Killer’s Guide to Life (2019), and Alexander Hamilton in The Real Founding Fathers of America (2020). His stage credits include Mamma Mia!, The Lion King, The Wizard of Oz, Grease, and Something Rotten. Recently, he appeared in a stage production of The Opera Singer from March 11 to March 28, 2026. An upcoming indie film, La Fantasia, features the actor as well; filming is complete though a release date has not been announced.
Davies is survived by his brother Rhodri and his father Conway. In his Instagram statement regarding his brother's passing, Rhodri stated, “The reach of Owain’s love, friendship, and generosity was vast. The outpouring of messages we have received over the past few days has been deeply moving and a testament to the impact he had on so many lives.” Public arrangements have not been scheduled at this time, and any news will come when the family is ready.
