If you’ve always dreamed about owning your own BB-8 or R2-D2, that’s now a possibility. Piaggio Fast Forward has just launched the G1T4-M1N1, a Star Wars-themed, fully functioning personal robot. It looks like it has come straight from the galaxy far, far away, with its R2-D2 reminiscent design and sound effects.

The G1T4-M1N1 is designed to carry a light load (20lbs in a 18inch by 16inch by 18-inch hold that locks) and follow its owner. There’s also a handy Bluetooth speaker and USB port inside. The G1T4-M1N1 has a top speed of 6mph, the equivalent to a brisk walking pace and can be monitored via app. It has an impressive seven-hour battery life, but all the marketing appears to show the droid running on the flat. It’s unlikely it can handle curbs.

G1T4-M1N1 will set you back $2,875 but payment plans are available. The Gita droids also come in a larger size, if you can live without the Star Wars decals.

Visitors to The Disney Store in Times Square, NY, over Star Wars Day period will get to see the Gitas for themselves as they will be visiting May 2nd-May 6th. If you are considering attending, Disney requests that you do not try to jam secret encoded holographic messages to the rebellion into the G1T4-M1N1’s matrix unless you purchase the droid first. Thank you.
