With the recent news that Amazon’s ‘The Rings of Power’ series did very well for the company and brought in more than they expected, fans have eagerly awaited the next season. And now, Amazon is starting to tease when that might potentially be.

Amazon’s head of television, Vernon Sanders, recently talked about updates for Season 2, particularly regarding what to expect to see story-wise, casting-wise, and the recasting announcement of the major character, Adar. Now, he added an interesting update on the status of Season 2.

Season 1 ended on such a cliffhanger, and the original news was that fans would have to wait 2 years or even over that potentially for Season 2, which was a huge disappointment but also understandable for the epic scope of the show. Soon after Season 1 finished premiering, it was confirmed that Season 2 was in production in the UK.

Sanders did say in an interview with Collider that it is “more unlikely than likely” that the series would return before 2024 (which is when HBO’s House of the Dragon is also set to return), but then he added: “I don’t know that I can say… It would be amazing if we could get Season 2 out within a year of Season 1. It may take a smidge longer than that, but we’re doing everything we can, and we’re going to get better and faster as we go. Certainly, the production, what we’ve learned in Season 1, has taught us things that we’re applying in Season 2, and so far, we set a goal for ourselves of when we want that show to be released, and we are on track and on plan.”

Does this mean that we are getting the season sooner than expected? We will have to wait and see.
