Talking on Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast, Rian Johnson says he will continue to make Knives Out films as long as he is having a good time.

With Johnson’s latest film, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, seeing critical acclaim at film festivals, Variety sat down with him at the Middleburg Film Festival to chat about the series and his other works. Johnson admitted to being excited to start on the third of the Knives Out films now the second is finished. When asked how many films there could be within the series, Johnson talked about what he sees these films to be.

“If each one of these can really be what Agatha Christie did, if it can be not just in a totally new location and a new cast, but also trying something exciting, I’ll keep doing it as long as Daniel [Craig] and I are having a good time. I’ll keep making these as long as they let me.”

Should Netflix see success in the series with the next two films, Johnson could see his wish become reality. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery sees detective Benoit Blanc travel to Greece to solve a murder mystery at a private island getaway. Seeing a theatrical release between November 23 to November 29 as part of a special one-week preview, it will then be available on Netflix on December 23.
