According to Japanese outlet Smart Flash, a sequel to 2016’s Shin Godzilla is set to begin filming in November. It’s alleged that several cast members, such as Hiroki Hasegawa are expected to return, alongside Tasuku Emoto from Shin Kamen Rider and Minami Hamabe from Godzilla Minus One, which is a very interesting proposition indeed. Smart Flash is reported to have said, “There’s a lot of interest in the industry about what kind of role she’ll play.” For the sake of focusing on the facts, we’ll be avoiding any speculation about what said role might be. Still, the reports are interesting, if they are to be believed.

Shin Godzilla, directed by Hideaki Anno, was a huge hit for Toho, and helped spawn what is now dubbed the Reiwa Era of the franchise. Anno is a very busy man, so it is unknown if he will return to the director's chair. Of course, we’re not entirely sure if the reports about Shin Godzilla 2 are even real at this point. We will keep monitoring the situation to see if any news comes out in the following days or months. Until then, we’ll just have to return to the internet and avoid viruses, the Kaijuu of the Web. Farewell.
