'Sonic Superstars' Nominated for Best Family Game For The Game Awards 2023

Just like Sonic Frontiers did last year, it seems Sonic Superstars is getting some important recognition from this year’s Game Awards. The 2.5D side-scroller is among one of the nominees for Best Family Game. This is a category for games primarily aimed at general audiences and is “appropriate for family play, irrespective of genre or platform.” Sonic Superstars is joined in this category by Disney Island Illusion, Party Animals, Pikmin 4, and Super Mario Superstars. Though like last year, it is not up for the coveted “Game of the Year” category, its rival, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, is up for that title.
Things got pretty intense last time a Sonic game was up for an award. Sonic Frontiers was nominated for the Player’s Voice Award last year, and it came down to it and Genshin Impact. Both sides got rather riled up toward each other and caused several online flame wars to start, but ultimately, Genshin Impact won, causing a massive upset in the Sonic community. Will Sonic Superstars take home this award? Only time will tell. You can currently vote for Sonic Superstars and/or other titles in this category and others on The Game Awards website, and the winners will be announced on December 7th.
