The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has had a tremendous year in 2022. From a hugely successful movie, a new Netflix series, and an entry into the video game series that is being seen as among the best 3D Sonic titles in quite some time, it appears that the blue blur is seeing a massive resurgence and is speeding towards new heights. However, it seems there might even be more in store for Sonic, with Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka stating that there’s much more planned for the hedgehog in 2023.

“This past year was the biggest year in Sonic history, including the release of the movie sequel, new titles Sonic Origins and Sonic Frontiers, and the Netflix animation Sonic Prime. We are preparing a second wave to keep the fans happy and maintain that momentum going into 2023. We already announced additional content for Sonic Frontiers, but there is a lot more outside of that, so please look forward to it.” Iizuka told Famitsu.
