'Starfield' Is The Most Important Game For Xbox Since 'Halo 5'

Bethesda’s highly-anticipated science fiction roleplay game Starfield has a rapidly approaching release date. The game is set in the year 2330 after humanity abandoned Earth in favor of spreading out amongst the stars. Exploration efforts have lowered despite there being more out there, though one group is still keeping the mission alive. Join the mission, explore the stars, and discover what is out there. Starfield will present a new degree of importance for Microsoft, Bethesda, and the Xbox for several reasons.

First of all, Starfield will be Bethesda’s first new game title in 25 years; the development company has been mainly building on its older titles like Elder Scrolls and Fallout. During the development of those other titles, they were also working on pitch ideas for what would later become Starfield. The name was trademarked in 2013, marking the overall development of the game for over a decade. Something this massive and worked on has importance on that front alone.

For the Xbox, the release of Starfield will be the largest since Halo 5. Halo 5 was the first main story installment for the franchise on the Xbox One. A combination of the marketing and the wait time had consumers ready and waiting for the release as well. Starfield has had a similar anticipation period as the game’s release was pushed back several times; a combination of the marketing and clearly meticulous world-building has aided in the anticipation. Not only is Starfield a first for the Xbox, but it is the first edition to the overall title too, adding to the importance of the release.

The release for Starfield will be moderately staggered depending on the version the consumer buys. Originally scheduled for 2022, the game was pushed back several times to prolong development. The full release for Starfield will be September 6, 2023. Those who purchase the Premium or the Constellation Edition can get access up to five days early. It will be available for the Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC.
