2023 has been an exciting year for cinema, the genres being so varied that anyone could find something to enjoy. Barbie, in particular, has been making waves since its release, and the film just surpassed a new milestone! The film has recently become 2023’s top-grossing movie in the domestic box office, knocking The Super Mario Bros. Movie down from its throne to the number two spot. At the time of writing this, Barbie has made over $575.4 million domestically.

Hitting over $500 million domestically is a feat on its own, as only 19 other films have reached this milestone. The revenue that Barbie has brought in also saddles the film as the highest-grossing Warner Bros. film in domestic history, surpassing The Dark Knight (2008) by several million. The film is gaining on the international record as well, sitting at $1.29 billion to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II’s $1.315 billion. To top these achievements off, Barbie is now the domestically highest-grossing film from a female filmmaker, beating Frozen II (2019) by several million.
