The First Trailer For Season 2 Of Amazon Prime's 'The Wheel Of Time' Has Been Released

Prime Video has unveiled a new trailer for the second season of The Wheel Of Time. The series is based on Robert Jordan’s famous novels, which carry the same name. Although it does not strictly follow the path chosen in the books, the new season seems thrilling enough to merit a watch; the trailer shows that all roads are leading toward a battle of titanic proportions. Check out the trailer below:

Rosamund Pike returns as Moiraine Damodred for the second season, and her character may face some trouble ahead, claiming “everyone has a choice, and every choice has a consequence.” The theme of the season, from what the trailer shows us, is likely to be one of regret, vengeance, and, most likely, destruction. All events revolve around Josha Stradowski’s character, Rand al’Thor, who became known as The Dragon Reborn. The connection between these two is the key; Damodred is going to have a hard time protecting Rand from his ultimate destiny. Chosen as the champion of the light, he has the duty to defeat the dark one and his followers.

From various mythical beings to impressive scenarios, The Wheel Of Time promises a world of magic very similar to those of Lord of the Rings and (somewhat) Game of Thrones. The latter shares more semblance to Jordan’s novels, and it is not a coincidence; he and George R. R. Martin used to be good friends. Martin incorporated details from Jordan’s work into his own, utilizing the expression “Game of Houses” and turning it into “Game of Thrones.”

The Wheel of Time features, besides Pike and Stradowski, some unfamiliar faces to the general public. Daniel Henney (Big Hero 6, X-Men: Origins: Wolverine) plays Lan Mandragon. Madeleine Madden (Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Mystery Road) interprets Egwene Al’Vere, and Zöe Robins (Power Rangers: Ninja Steel, The Killian Curse) goes by the name of Nynaeve al’Meara. The second season premieres, according to Deadline, on September 1st. As it was created by Prime Video, the show will be available in multiple countries on their streaming service.
