Summer Game Fest Will Return In June

Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest is returning for the fifth time, and the date has finally been confirmed! The event will kick off at 2PM PDT/5PM EDT on June 7, 2024. This event has subtly been taking the place of E3 since it began; E3, or the Electronic Entertainment Expo, was a video game conference commonly held in the summer as well. The event was officially retired in December of 2023.

SGF has had quite a few exciting announcements in the past, including specific game announcements and updates on big names such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Similar content can be expected for this event, though specific fandoms have not been named yet.SGF Five will be hosted at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California. The event will be streamable on multiple major platforms including YouTube and Twitch. There will be an in-person option for attendance as well; tickets go on sale starting May 7, 2024. The previous year saw particularly widespread success, as it hit a livestream viewership of over 34 million, also hosted on YouTube.

SGF is not the only event being held this summer. Day of the Devs: Summer Game Fest Edition will be returning. This event highlights a variety of games across a diverse group of game developer companies. SGF Play Days is also reportedly returning; this event is invite-only, bringing those with an invite in to face off in a battle of video games.
