James Gunn recently confirmed that his Superman film has a runtime of two hours and nine minutes. On Threads, a user reached out to the director, who confirmed the runtime “inclusive of credits/ post credits.” Another user inquired if the film had been shortened by Warner Bros. Gunn responded, “Zero truth to that. And they couldn’t even if that’s something that they wanted to. It’s a DC Studios film.” Gunn’s Superman is the start of the DC Universe, not to be confused with the DCEU. The film is part of the Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters arc. Gunn wrote, directed, and co-produced Superman, which focuses on Superman’s (David Corenswet) split identity, as a native of Krypton and a resident of Smallville, and how he can bring those two identities together.
Joining Corenswet are Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl. Remaining cast members include Pruitt Taylor Vince, Neva Howell, Wendell Pierce, Skyler Gisondo, Beck Bennett, Mikaela Hoover, Christopher McDonald, Sara Sampaio, and Terence Rosemore. Some characters from the DCU will join the adventure. They are Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr., Maria Gabriela de Fara’s the Engineer, and Milly Alcock’s Supergirl. Superman lands in theaters on July 11.
