Tollywood’s biggest franchise is going animated, as it was recently announced that the Indian film studio Arka Productions has partnered with animation studios Aniventure, Zaratan, and Alcyde to produce a new film in the Baahubali series.
Baahubali: The Eternal War Part I is set to bring the iconic series to life in gloriously stylized CG Animation, as first revealed in a teaser trailer published by Arka. This project is shaping up to be an ambitious international effort, with Aniventure being UK-based, Zaratan in Scotland, and Alcyde in France. Adam Nagle of Aniventure spearheaded this collaboration, with Andrew Pearce and Paula Bird of Scotland helming a pre-production package. Alcyde is set to provide visual development material, bringing the world of Baahubali to life from an animated lens. Ishan Shukla, who previously directed Star Wars Visions: The Bandits of Golak, is set to direct the film, with Scott Mosier (Free Birds, Ultimate Spider-Man) penning the screenplay.
Created and directed by S. S. Rajamouli, Baahubali is a two-part Telugu epic that first debuted in 2015 with ‘The Beginning’, followed by ‘The Conclusion’ in 2017. Both films were praised for their creative fight choreography and emotional core as a story of love and war. To this day, Baahubali is India’s highest-grossing film series, regarded as one of the most influential film series in the country, receiving animated spinoffs, books, and even a manga adaptation by Akira Fukaya, creator of Tetsuo: The Bullet Man.
Baahubali: The Eternal War Part I is set to release in 2027. Check out the teaser here:
