Every year since 1991, Universal Orlando has featured Halloween Horror Nights. Universal Studios Hollywood joined the party in 1997. Recently, the attraction has featured After Hours by The Weeknd, Halloween, The Black Phone, and The Walking Dead. In 2023, Halloween Horror Nights will feature The Last of Us.

The popular video game released by Naughty Dog and PlayStation originally debuted in 2013. The game has won many awards, including an Annie Award, a D.I.C.E. Award, and a Game Developers Choice Award. In 2023, HBO aired a series based on the video game, which starred Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. The game and the show are set in post-apocalyptic America. Most of the people have been infected by a fungus that mutated them. The uninfected Joel and Ellie have to survive the Pittsburg Quarantine Zone. The haunted house will include Clickers, Raiders, Runners, Stalkers, and Hunters. The attraction will feature game locations like The Grand Hotel. John Murdy of Universal said, “The world inside the game offers a multitude of suspenseful and horrifying opportunities to provide guests with a one-of-a-kind experience that can only be found at Halloween Horror Nights.”

Halloween Horror Nights will start September 1st in Orlando and September 7th in Hollywood.
