Academy Award winners Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz have been locked for the next installment in The Mummy franchise, which is set for May 19, 2028. Universal announced Fraser and Weisz’s return on Tuesday, making this their third 'The Mummy’ film together. The actors share an incredible chemistry, and their return has been in demand ever since rumors of another Mummy movie began to swirl months ago. The confirmation of the duo’s reunion has received excited reactions from fans online. They previously starred together in The Mummy (1999) and The Mummy Returns (2001). Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz will reprise their roles as Rick O’Connell and Evelyn Carnahan-O’Connell, although plot details remain unknown.

The rest of the cast is currently under wraps. The Mummy 4 will be helmed by Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, and the script is written by David Coggeshall. Gillett told Empire that Coggeshall’s script feels ‘special’. He described it as, “very beautiful and sweeping and scary and fun”. Sean Daniel, William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein are producing The Mummy‘s next installment through Project X Entertainment. Leading man, Brendan Fraser, Hivemind’s Jason F. Brown, and Denis Stewart are executive producers. The Mummy 4 is expected to hit theaters on May 19, 2028.
