Is there such a thing as too many film composers? Tony Gilroy’s upcoming drama Behemoth! will have a score composed by not one, not two, but NINE different composers! Earlier this year, James Newton Howard was confirmed to be providing the score with other then-unknown composers. The other 8 composers have now been confirmed to be Alan Silvestri, Brandon Roberts, Michael Abels, Emily Bear, Lukas Frank, Michael Giacchino, Henry Jackman, and Nami Melumad.
James Newton Howard has scored all of Tony Gilroy’s directorial efforts since his debut with Michael Clayton, which earned Howard an Oscar nomination for Best Original Score. From 1999 to 2013, Howard was the go-to composer for M. Night Shyamalan. The duo is set to reunite after years apart on Shyamalan’s upcoming film Remain. Howard was also the go-to composer for legendary writer-director Lawrence Kasdan. Outside of his collaborations with Gilroy, Shyamalan, and Kasdan, Howard’s most notable scores include The Hunger Games franchise, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, the Fantastic Beasts franchise, Treasure Planet, Peter Jackson’s King Kong, and the first two Christopher Nolan Batman films alongside Hans Zimmer.

Michael Giacchino is a composer who needs no introduction, as Behemoth! is his 5th (and likely final) confirmed score of 2026 following Spider-Man: Brand New Day, The End of Oak Street, Klara and the Sun, and Ray Gunn. Henry Jackman is best known for scoring the superhero films X-Men: First Class, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Captain America: Civil War.
