The city of stars are shining just for us! Lionsgate has announced that Damien Chazelle’s Oscar-winning masterpiece La La Land is returning to theaters for its 10th anniversary!

The musical romance film centers on Mia Tolan, an aspiring actress, and Sebastian Wilder, a musician who wishes to open a jazz club, as they navigate their lives, their romance, and their dreams in the City of Angels. The film was written and directed by Damien Chazelle (hot of the success of 2014’s Whiplash) and starred Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling in the lead roles. The film’s now-iconic soundtrack featured songs written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and a musical score by Justin Hurwitz.

Upon release, La La Land became a worldwide phenomenon and garnered widespread critical acclaim, with Chazelle’s direction and screenplay, the performances of Stone and Gosling, Hurwitz’s score, the cinematography, and the musical numbers receiving notable praise. The film received a record-breaking 14 Oscar nominations including Best Picture, Best Actor for Gosling, and Best Original Screenplay for Chazelle. La La Land won a leading 6 Oscars, including Best Director for Chazelle, Best Actress for Stone, Best Original Song for the track City of Stars, and Best Original Score for Hurwitz. For the last decade, La La Land has frequently been hailed as one of the greatest films of the 21st Century and of all time. A Broadway adaptation of the film is currently in the works.

La La Land returns to theaters for a limited time on August 16th!
