AMC brings the zombies to WonderCon. The company recently released a trailer for the eighth and final season of The Walking Dead prequel series, Fear the Walking Dead, which focuses on a family’s adventures at the start of the zombie outbreak. Co-showrunner Ian Goldberg and executive producer Michael Satrazemis, along with cast members Kim Dickens, Jenna Elfman, and Christine Evangelita advertise the film.

Goldberg revealed a time jump between the seventh and eighth seasons that brings the prequel close to the timeframe of the original series. The co-showrunner shared his thoughts on the final season: “It feels surreal; it’s amazing to be making season 8 of this show, and only because, at this point, everybody knows this will be our final season. Thank you so much; you are the best fans in the world, we made this show for you, and we’re so honored that we’ve been able to tell these stories for such a long time.”

The trailer focuses on Morgan, the family’s leader, and Madison striving to rescue Morgan’s daughter Mo while Morgan deals with his feelings of doubt and cynicism. AMC’s official press release reads, “The eighth season begins after the conclusion of Season 7, when Morgan’s (Lennie James) and Madison’s (Kim Dickens) hopes to rescue Mo from PADRE did not go as planned. Now, Morgan, Madison and the others they brought to the island are living under PADRE’s cynical rule. With our characters demoralized and dejected, the task of reigniting belief in a better world rests with the person Morgan and Madison set out to rescue in the first place — Morgan’s daughter, Mo.”

The trailer also includes a mention of the original series’ Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) who is set to star in his own Walking Dead spin-off. Check out the trailer below.
