Star Wars Zero Company is a highly anticipated game set in the Clone Wars era of the Star Wars universe. The game is being developed by Bit Reactor, headed by Greg Foertsch, and Respawn Entertainment, and will be published by Electronic Arts (EA) and Lucasfilm Games. Set at the tail-end of the Clone Wars in 22 BBY, the player takes on the leader of Zero Company Hawks in this turn-based strategy game. Content writer for PC Gamer, Ted Litchfield, had the chance to test the game, providing details and insight into what's to come.

Litchfield described the visuals of the game as “sumptuous and expensive, while close collaboration with Lucasfilm has resulted in an authentically Star Wars aesthetic.” The writer found the gameplay itself enticing as well. Over the four and a half hours of play time, he was left with a memorable impression, specifically reminiscing about a droideka confrontation.  Timing is key in a game like this, and Litchfield pulled off an impressive feat, ganging up on an enemy spawn and laying down fire while the droid needed a turn to set itself up.  Moments like these are what he describes as expectation, stating, “That's what I was expecting and fans are demanding of Zero Company.”

As a turn-based game, some lose interest due to the oversaturation of the genre and the lack of variety in its mechanics. Bit Reactor aims to change those expectations.  This style of game can have in-depth graphics, cinematic experiences, and a solid story while remaining a challenging strategy game at its core. Litchfield wrote, “The devs I spoke to characterized Zero Company's combination of third-person exploration with tactical combat as one of Foertsch's main priorities in development, and it came through during the hands-on. Both styles of gameplay—tactical battles and exploration—were executed at the highest level of quality.” This is not just a game, but an intentional push to evolve the genre of turn-based action games.

While STAR WARS Zero Company does not have an official release date at this time, it is projected for 2026 and is still labeled as coming soon online. It will be available on PC, the PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. You can add the game to your wishlist through several online platforms, including Steam and the PlayStation Store, to be updated on its release timeline.
