In recent weeks, almost everyone in and around DC Films has wanted face time with the new CEOs, James Gunn and Peter Safran. Most recently, Zachary Levi has been interested in meeting the two new executives to hear their thoughts on Shazam’s future.

Levi portrays the superhuman, adult version of Asher Angel’s adolescent Billy Batson which first debuted in 2019’s Shazam! With the sequel Shazam: Fury of the Gods, fans expect the film to release in theatres in 2023; however, with Gunn and Safran helming the company, Levi’s future is uncertain.

At a recent appearance at Comic-Con Portugal, Levi said, “I’m sure most of you know who James Gunn is because he’s made all kinds of incredible movies and television shows, like Guardians of the Galaxy, The Suicide Squad and stuff. He’s one of my bosses now, which is dope. Also, he’s a friend of mine, so that makes him even cooler.”

Levi responded to the question of Shazam’s future under new leadership by saying, “So your question is, ‘If those are my two bosses, is there a plan and a future for Shazam?’ I would say, ‘Yeah, I would hope so. I would hope so’ Because those are my friends, and if they don’t have a plan, then they are not my friends anymore. No, sir.”
