Nick Fury

The penultimate episode of Secret Invasion doesn’t hold back. Things are looking bleak for Nick Fury, as everything seems to be working against him. Gravik is also more powerful than ever but is losing some of his following. We also see the return of Sonya Falsworth, who shares a common goal with Nick Fury. It’s all hands on deck to stop the Skrull invasion and possibly World War III.

This episode starts with the president being rushed into surgery. Nick Fury is there to whisper in his ear, about how he shouldn’t trust Rhodes. Since he can’t go into the OR, he waits for Rhodes and eventually confronts him at the hospital. However, Rhodes has a plan and says the footage of Fury at the Moscow bombings will be released. This causes Fury to go on the run, where we see him use a familiar facial disguise device, that has been used before by Natasha Romanoff.  Before he flees to Finland, he meets up with a mourning Gi’ah. They talk, and Fury directs her to meet with his wife, to give Talos a proper funeral. Rhodes meets with the president and reveals that the Skrulls were working with the Russians and that he will bomb the compound. This, however, will cause World War III, as it is on Russian soil.  Fury also meets with Sonya Falsworth (Olivia Coleman) who both have a common goal in mind, and that is to stop the Skrull invasion. Fury reveals to Sonya that Gravik wants something called the Harvest, and Fury plans to give it to him, but not without a fight.

Sonya Falsworth is one of Nick Fury’s only remaining allies, who will fight against Gravik. She is an interesting character, as we haven't seen a lot of her, but what we have seen has been pretty violent. She tortured the one Skrull for information a few episodes ago, and in this episode, she had no problem shooting two of them. She even went after the Skrull doctor, who has been researching the different serums for Gravik. She definitely does things differently than Fury does, but the two of them team up together to take down Gravik.

It was also revealed that Nick Fury has taken DNA samples of all the Avengers. When explaining this to Sonya, he says that they have all bled at some point, so he collected them and sent them away to be studied. This is called the Harvest. Gravik wants the Harvest and makes a deal with Nick Fury. Fury decides to take the Harvest, and it seems like he is going to give it over to Gravik, but not without a fight.

It’s starting to seem like all the unanswered questions will not be answered in the final episode. These questions could however be answered in future MCU films, including the next one, The Marvels. The Skrulls did originate from Captain Marvel, so it wouldn’t be too surprising to see them again in the upcoming movie, depending on the outcome of the final episode. It will however be interesting to see what happens in the final episode, and if Gravik will be defeated.
