Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth is the eighth installment in the Yakuza franchise. The game releases on January 26th. It's set to combine various characters from the franchise, sort of Avengers: Endgame style. The game will focus on Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu. Some of these characters may have a cameo, or be part of the story, while others will be playable. With the massive game quickly approaching, here are all the characters that have been confirmed to be returning.

Ichiban returns as one of the two main protagonists and is also the central character in Infinite Wealth. His life has been a journey, to say the least. He started in the Arakawa family, went to prison for a murder he did not commit, and after he got out, he was rejected by Arakawa, but sent on a journey to uncover the truth. After the events of Like A Dragon, he has journeyed to Hawaii to find his mother and protect her from the various criminal organizations trying to harm her.

Kiryu is back and is the second protagonist in Infinite Wealth. He finds himself in Hawaii where he must protect Akane, Ichiban's mother from her pursuers. He is also dealing with cancer and has a bucket list he would like to complete. He and Ichiban eventually find themselves, working together to achieve their mutual goal.

Nanba helped nurse Ichi back to health after being shot by Arakawa, and even after everything that happened between the two of them, they remained friends and became close. Nanba is one of Ichi’s closest friends, so it makes sense that he would be returning to Infinite Wealth to help out Ichi once more.

Koichi Adachi

Adachi was there for Ichi when he was released from prison. He wanted Ichi's help to investigate the police commissioner. He also told Ichi about Arawkawa and the Omi Alliance. Of course, Ichi didn't believe him at first but was there for him when he eventually did. The two become close, and like Nanba, will be there to help out Ichi on his next quest.

Saeko Mukoda

After the murder of their mutual boss, the group eventually meets Saeko, who they mistake for her twin sister. She joins the party to bring her boss’s murderer to justice and becomes close to Ichiban and the rest of the group. Like the others, she will be there to help out Ichiban on his next adventure.

Tianyou Zhao

He was once the leader of the Yokohama Liumang, but later gave it up to Seong-hui after the Great Wall of Muscle was disbanded. He had nowhere to go, so instead teams up with Ichi's crew to uncover what's happening in Ijincho. He will return in the upcoming game, to help aid Ichi on his quest.

Joon-gi Han

A member of the Geomijul, he was Seong-hui's, right-hand man. After the Geomijul burned down, he and Seong-hui had nowhere to go, so similar to Zhao, decided to team up with Ichi and help him on his journey. His current role in the upcoming game is unknown, but his assassin skills will come in handy for the various fights that the group will get into.

The leader of the Geomijul and also the Yokohama Liumang. She has been displaced, ever since her home burned down. She and Joon-gi are trying to find a new place to reside. Unlike her character in Like A Dragon, she will become a playable character in Infinite Wealth and will play a role in Ichiban’s story, more than she did in the previous game

Goro Majima

Majima has been a constant throughout the Yakuza franchise and will be returning in Infinite Wealth.  He has been shown in the trailers and other content regarding the game, however, it is unknown to what extent he will be in the game, and if he will be a part of Kiryu’s story.  He won’t be playable, but will still be important nonetheless.

Taiga Saejima

Saejima is the former patriarch of the Saejima family and former lieutenant to the Tojo Clan. He will also be returning for Infinite Wealth, and like Majima, it is unknown as to what capacity his role will play.

Daigo Dojima

Dojima has been a major character in the Yakuza franchise ever since he was first introduced in Yakuza 2. He is part of Kiryu’s past and was appointed Sixth Chairman of the Tojo Clan on Kiryu’s recommendation. While he is appearing in the game, it is unknown how he will aid in Kiryu’s story.

Jo Sawashiro

Jo is making his return in Infinite Wealth. He was once Captain of the Arakawa family, and now is the founder and first chairman of the Tokyo Omi Alliance. He is also a member of the Seriyu Clan. He and Ichiban were never close and even had multiple fights, so it will be interesting to see what part he plays in Ichiban’s story in Infinite Wealth

A character who doesn't have a big impact, but is still important. He is the bartender at the Survive Bar, the go-to hangout of Ichi and crew. He helps them with various personal missions and has always been a constant in the Yakuza games.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is going to be a huge game, and it only makes sense with the amount of characters that will be returning. There will also be plenty of new characters for Ichiban and Kiryu to stumble across and join their party, making the list of characters in this franchise even bigger. Let’s hope these characters get the ending they deserve, and that our favorites will be seen again in future installments.

Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth releases January 26th, 2023 for Xbox, Playstation, and PC.
