One of the topics that is the most polarizing for film and TV fans is couples. There have been some truly terrible ones like Carrie and Mr. Big or Blair Waldorf and Dan Humphrey, but there have also been some amazing ones! To celebrate Valentine’s week let’s look at ten of the best couples from TV and film. I will not be including any Star Wars couples because they are getting their own list!

10. Westley And Buttercup - 'The Princess Bride'

Not only is this one of the best rom-coms to watch for Valentine’s Day, but it is also one of the best rom-com couples of all time! Their romance is so much fun and when you think about the fact that he was willing to die just to rescue her it gets even more romantic! There was nothing that could stop them from being together and they proved it over and over again.

9. Blair And Chuck - 'Gossip Girl'

I am not going to pretend like Blair and Chuck are good people because honestly, they are two of the most toxic characters in this show. With that said, they are a perfect couple! They don’t want to change anything about the other person and they not only accept each other fully, but they are partners in crime for almost the entire show. Also, the way that they ended up getting married in the final season was genius and the perfect ending for their characters.

8. Rick And Ilsa - 'Casablanca'

While I do love this couple more than some of the others on this list I put them at number eight because we don’t see them as a couple for most of the film. We get a glimpse of their romance, but what makes them an amazing couple is that they are so in love they are willing to sacrifice their own safety and happiness just to protect the other. The ending of this movie is a prime example of the saying “If he wanted to, he would”.

7. Phil And Vivian - 'The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air'

The show may be about Will, but Uncle Phil and Aunt Vivian steal the show every time they are on screen together. Not only do they weather every single storm together, but they provide their kids and Will with the perfect example of what true love looks like. They are easily the best part of this show!

6. Wanda And Vision - Marvel (Various)

I feel like this one is self-explanatory. They are the best couple to come out of Marvel Studios and it isn’t even close. Their love is legendary and shows how forgiving and non-judgmental true love really is. I’m sad that we probably won’t get any more content revolving around their love, but as the great Taylor Swift said “Don’t blame me, love made me crazy, if it doesn’t you aren’t doing it right”. That is Wanda’s motto when it comes to Vision.

5. Nicole And Simon - 'How To Steal A Million'

One of the most underrated couples in a classic film is Nicole and Simon. I feel like this is one of the few Audrey Hepburn movies that fly under the radar of most fans and it is disappointing because it is an amazing film. Nicole and Simon meet under the most ridiculous and hilarious of circumstances, and it makes their relationship so much better. Their first kiss is also one of the funniest first kisses ever! I love this couple and I wish we would have gotten to see them again in another film.

4. Bobby And Athena - '9-1-1'

This is my favorite live-action TV couple ever. They met each other right after they both hit rock bottom and they supported each other through it all. They make the perfect blended family and they are a great example of how you can work through anything if you truly love someone. They also have one of the most realistic relationships on TV because it isn’t glamorized and they don’t pretend like they don’t argue or have really bad days. They are what makes this show so amazing.

3. Aragorn And Arwen - 'The Lord Of The Rings'

They are one of the most epic love stories of all time. An Elf and a Ranger fall deeply in love and make each other better for it. Their best scenes are in The Fellowship of the Ring and it is one of the things that makes the movie so good. It is amazing to see a strong female character that is supported by her love rather than discouraged. I also love the way that their love is portrayed and that she is willing to give her immortal life just to have a mortal life with him!

2. Howl And Sophie - 'Howl’s Moving Castle'

Studio Ghibli is filled with amazing couples, but Howl and Sophie are easily the best. Not only does he look for her for decades, but he also loves her even when she is cursed to look like an old woman! She ignores his reputation and opens her heart to him, allowing him to show her who he truly is, and it is amazing! This is one of the most romantic couples of all time!

1. Harley Quinn And Poison Ivy - DC (Various)

There was no other couple for me to put at number one than these two! If you are a fan of DC comic books then you have had some time with this couple, but for those of us who don’t read the comic books we were introduced to them in 2019 when Harley got her own show. They are put through the ringer, but they still always find their way back to each other. I love how they start as best friends and then grow to love each other in a way that no other couple will ever understand.
