LEGO has a treat in store for Super Mario fans. Three new sets are on the horizon for release on August 1, 2024. These sets are meant to expand on at least one of three starter kits already available for purchase. The starter sets include a figure (Mario, Peach, or Luigi) and a building course. They are currently available at discounted prices for a limited time in honor of LEGO’s Mario Day celebration. The figures and the contents of the expansion kits interact with each other.

The Bowser Express Train, for ages 9+, has 1,392 pieces. The set includes a train, handcar, two stations, a Super Star Block, a Hammer Bro, Boom Boom, two Goombas, as well as two Para-Biddybuds. The kit comes with directions and innovative suggestions for creative play. Additionally, LEGO encourages patrons to download the LEGO Super Mario App for more ideas. The set is expected to cost $119.99.

King Boo’s Haunted Mansion set is simple enough to turn into Luigi’s Mansion when coupled with the Luigi figure that comes in one of the primary starter kids. It is for ages 8+ and contains 932 pieces. The set comes with a buildable toy mansion. The toy, once assembled, opens outward for ease of access and interactive play. It comes with King Boo, a Yellow Baby Yoshi, Dry Bones, and a Boo figure. One or all the starter kits are encouraged for purchase to enhance the play experience, as the various figures come with barcodes on their feet, allowing for the performance of actions such as collecting coins, stars, etc. King Boo’s Haunted Mansion is expected to cost $74.99.

The third expansion set is Battle with Roy at Peach’s Castle. This kit is intended for ages 7+ and has 738 pieces.  The set features a buildable brick castle that is easy to rebuild after attacks (a bonus feature for younger LEGO enthusiasts). The castle includes a tower, a catapult, a rotated throne, and a garden with a fountain. Additionally, it comes with three figures – Roy, a Chain Chomp, and Toad. As with the above sets, this one complements one of the three starter kits, which allows for interactive play. Battle with Roy at Peach’s Castle is expected to cost $64.99.
