If you are already a Hulu fan then I don’t have to tell you that they are one of the best streaming services to use when looking for horror content. For anyone who may be new to Hulu or has never subscribed to it, I highly recommend checking it out this year. Not only do they do their annual Huluween in October, but they also have a ton of great horror films, series, and Hulu originals. Here are ten of the best horror offerings currently available to stream on Hulu that you need to add to your spooky season watchlist!

10. ‘The Haunting In Connecticut’ (2009)

I feel this is a great film that flew under most horror fans' radar. It has the perfect blend of spooky atmosphere and well-placed jump scares. The film follows a family who moves to Connecticut to be closer to their son's cancer treatments. Soon after moving into their new home, they begin seeing shadow people, and horrifying things start to happen. What makes this film so great is that there is a fully developed story and a well-placed twist to explain why these things are happening.

9. ‘No Exit' (2022)

No Exit

This Hulu original film is an adaptation of the novel No Exit by Taylor Adams. The book is something that every horror/thriller fan needs to add to their spooky season reading list because it is amazing. The film follows the events of the novel pretty closely as it follows a young woman who becomes stranded at a rest stop during a heavy snowstorm. At first, the four other people don’t seem like anything concerning – that is until she finds a young girl tied up in the back of someone’s van and she realizes that she has stepped into the middle of a kidnapping. The film has tons of twists, and it will have your heart pumping until the credits roll!

8. ‘Queen Of The Damned’ (2002)

This is one of the most unique vampire movies I have ever seen, and I highly recommend it! The film follows a legendary vampire who has become a rock star in the modern day. His music awakens the Queen of the Vampires, and all the vampires must stand against her if they wish to survive. There is also a great love story thrown into the mix!

7. ‘Fresh’ (2022)

Fresh is another Hulu original film, and it follows a young woman who has had zero luck with her love life. Then she meets a handsome young man in the produce department of the local grocery store. What she thinks is going to be a dream come true quickly becomes a nightmare when she learns that he has a dark secret.

6. ‘Night Of The Living Dead’ (1968)

Hulu doesn’t have a huge catalog of classics, but it does have a few great ones like this one! This film follows a group of survivors who are hiding together in an old home after zombies begin roaming the Earth. As more of the undead arrive, the survivors begin to panic, and things take a terrifying turn. This film is not only the blueprint for most modern-day zombie films, but it also was a moving narrative about race in the 1960s.

5. ‘Psycho’ (1960)

This is another one of the few classics that you can find on Hulu. It is one of the most recognizable horror films and also has one of the worst remakes in horror cinema history. The film follows a secretary from Phoenix who is on the run after robbing her boss of $40,000. While traveling the backroads to avoid police, she runs into a heavy rainstorm that forces her to stop at the Bates Motel. There she meets the kind but strange owner, and her night soon turns to terror. There are so many amazing twists in this film!

4. ‘The Invisible Man’ (2020)

This is one of my favorite new horror films. It follows a woman who has just escaped her abusive boyfriend to start a new life. She soon learns that he has died, but she doesn’t believe it for a second. When unexplainable things begin to happen, she is certain that he is to blame. Unfortunately, no one believes her, and she soon finds herself in a fight for not only her life but also her sanity. There are so many twists in this movie that it is impossible to anticipate what is going to happen next.

3. ‘The Grudge 2’ (2006)

The Grudge 2

This is one of the rare horror sequels that is as good as and scarier than the original. The film is based on the Japanese Ju-On: The Grudge franchise and takes place immediately after the end of the first. It follows a young woman who travels to Tokyo to find her missing sister. After witnessing her sister’s death, she begins to investigate the home where her sister was found at the end of the first film. There are so many horrifying moments in this movie, but it is the ending that really puts it toward the top of this list.

2. ‘Us’ (2019)

Us

This is my favorite of Jordan Peele’s horror films because it stuck with me for days after seeing it. It follows a family who decided to take a trip to their mother’s childhood home. Strange things begin to happen on the day of their arrival, and by nightfall, the family is thrust into absolute horror. The premise for this film is equal parts fascinating and terrifying, but the twist is what makes this Peele’s best film so far.

1. ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ (1997)

I Know What You Did Last Summer

This is a film that I feel like most millennials grew up watching during Halloween. It follows a group of friends involved in a horrifying accident right after graduating high school. Rather than getting help, they decided to cover up the crime, leave for college, and act like it never happened. One year later, the friends return to their hometown to find that someone saw them that night and plans to make them pay. This film is cheesy fun with a surprisingly great twist!
