The women of Star Wars are revered for their strength, bravery, and being some of the most dynamic characters in the franchise. Padme Amidala not only checks each of these boxes, but she is also revered for her incredible style. While her style evolves even more throughout The Clone Wars series, for now let's take a look at 10 of her best outfits from the prequel films.

This outfit is only at the number 10 spot because of how great the other outfits on this list are. I love this look of hers from when they are at the lake on Naboo, and she goes to comfort Anakin after his nightmare. The simplicity of her white satin nightgown against the contrast of her deep blue velvet robe and the intricate gold detailing is a masterclass in costume design. Her hair is also perfectly styled to add even more of a royal flair to her night clothes. This is such a dreamy and romantic look!

This outfit is stunning and a reminder to everyone present in the senate that she is a Queen. This is similar to Padme’s red dress in that the purpose of it is to communicate status, and it does that perfectly. The large headdress, colorings, and expensive fabrics communicate to everyone that she has power and is not afraid to wield it to protect her people.
8. Green Velvet Dress (Revenge of the Sith)

The green velvet dress is one of my favorites of Padme’s pregnancy looks from the third film. The fabric looks comfortable, and the addition of the purple belt helps to accentuate her growing baby bump. I also love that the colors they chose for the look are not ones that would typically go together, and yet they work flawlessly with her skin tone and the color of her hair. I think it is also important to note the air of royalty that this dress and its colors ooze. They almost act as a subtle reminder of who she was when we first met her.
7. Black After Dinner Dress (Attack of the Clones)

The dinner scene in Attack of the Clones may not be a fan favorite, but Padme’s dress is spectacular. The dress we see her in after dinner is technically the same one she is wearing at dinner. She has just removed the feathered wrap. I love how the dress looks without the wrap, and I also really love that this is one of the only times that we see her character in an outfit that could be described as sexy. The color and combination of textures make this outfit really unique, and it shows us a side of her character that we don’t typically get to see.
6. Pearl And Satin Nightgown (Revenge of the Sith)

I have always felt that this dress made no sense as a nightgown but would have been stunning as a regular dress. The pearl detailing and light blue coloring are what make this outfit so stunning. From the front, the dress looks somewhat simplistic, but when you see the back of the nightgown, you can see the craftsmanship that went into crafting this piece. The layered ruffles running down the back of the dress plus the pearl detailing are what make this dress seem much fancier than it actually is. This is also one of the few looks Padme has in Revenge of the Sith that brings us back to the romance element that we got so much of in Attack of the Clones.
5. Meadow Dress (Attack of the Clones)

Padme’s meadow dress is the most intricate of her lake house outfits. At first glance, the dress is stunning, but when you take a second look, you begin to notice the intricately handstitched designs, the multitude of textures, the overlays, and the cohesion between her outfit and her hair accessories. This outfit is stunning and goes to show the level of talent in the costume department. One of my favorite things about this look is that it reminds us just how young Padme actually is. This dress shows less skin and is much more playful than the other outfits she is put in throughout the rest of the trilogy.
4. Tatooine Outfit (Attack of the Clones)

This outfit has always stood out to me because it makes sure that the audience remembers just how different Padme and Anakin’s upbringings were. The famous “I don’t like sand” scene from earlier in the movie was our first reminder that they come from very different backgrounds. She was raised in a world where sand brought joy and was something she got to choose to interact with. On the other hand, he was born into a world where sand whipped his face, arms, and legs, got into his bed, and made his already difficult life more uncomfortable. Each person we see on Tatooine, throughout the entire franchise, is wearing outfits that fully cover their skin, thus protecting them from the sand, but Padme wears an outfit that you would expect someone to wear on vacation to the beach. She is not thinking about the harsh elements on the planet because it is not something she has ever had to actually think about.
3. Geonosis Outfit (Attack of the Clones)

The outfit that Padme wears in the battle of Geonosis is one of my favorite outfits. I love the simplicity of the outfit, but also the attention to detail that the costume designer put into it. The outfit is easy for her to move around in, protects her skin from the heat and whipping sand, and is made out of an incredibly breathable fabric to help with the heat. I would also not be surprised if the fabric was moisture-wicking to help during the more intense scenes. It is rare to see so much attention put into how comfortable the costume will make the actress, and I think that this fact is overlooked most of the time when people are discussing this outfit.
2. Red Dress (The Phantom Menace)

While the outfit that took the number one spot is my personal favorite, Padme's red dress from Episode I is as recognizable as Leia’s slave outfit from the original films. The dress, headdress, and makeup are grandiose and speak to the wealth of Naboo. It is an amazing outfit that clearly states Padme’s royal position.
