Happy birthday Tessa Rao, hope you’re okay with dominoes. On Sunday, which had already turned Monday in New Zealand, her Dino Fury and Cosmic Fury Power Rangers teammates celebrated on social media with posts. This includes Russell Curry, who plays Zayto, the Dino Fury Red Ranger and Cosmic Fury Zenith Ranger.

He and Rao, who plays Izzy Garcia, the Green Dino Fury and Cosmic Fury Ranger, made a video in front of a bulletin board with Ranger character model sheets, on which at the very least an Orange Ranger was visible. That means that even with just 10 episodes to work with, more Rangers was not out of the question. This would be the first permanent Orange Ranger in the TV series, with previous instances in Power Rangers being in a dream by Boom in SPD, the single-use Kat Ranger by Kat Manx in the series, and a comics character. And then, amid the excitement of a long-desired color designation finally coming to fruition, a scoop comes in: The identity of said, Orange Ranger.

Not only did The Illuminerdi confirm there being an Orange Ranger, but they also confirmed who the new Ranger is going to be, and she’s rather familiar to fans and Dino Fury viewers. It’s Fern, played by Jacqueline Joe. The character had gone from Izzy’s athletic rival to girlfriend over Dino Fury’s first season, and they’ve been strong ever since. So much so that in “Things Unspoken” toward the end of the second season they’re able to say “I love you” to each other. In the same episode, Fern learns Izzy is the Green Ranger right before she goes off to college early. She did come back for Izzy’s graduation in the Dino Fury finale. How she’ll get her powers or get to the Cosmic Fury Rangers is unknown, but her return reportedly begins with the third episode.

Once that broke, fans started making connections from previously shared photos, such as spotting an orange thermos at a table read, which even voice actor Campbell Cooley saw was going around. There was also why of all the supporting actors Joe was hanging out with both the Cosmic Fury Rangers and the Mighty Morphin’ Rangers, who were in the country to film the 30th-anniversary special Once and Always. Power Rangers Cosmic Fury also stars Hunter Deno as Amelia the Red Ranger, Chance Perez as Javi Garcia the Black Ranger, Kai Moya as Ollie Akana the Blue Ranger, and Jordan Fite as Aiyon the Gold Ranger. The season is expected to be released on Netflix in the fall.
