Acting legends yearn for the mines! Deadline has confirmed that Kirsten Dunst will play Alex in the upcoming sequel to A Minecraft Movie. This comes after Dunst jokingly stated she wanted to join the sequel to “make a big pile of cash.”
An actress since childhood, Dunst had her breakthrough roles early, including Claudia in Interview with the Vampire, Jo March in Gillian Armstrong’s adaptation of Little Women, Judy Shepard in Jumanji, and the English voice of Kiki in Hayao Miyazaki's Kiki’s Delivery Service. Dunst’s most famous roles include those of Torrance Shipman in Peyton Reed’s directorial debut, Bring It On, Justine in Lars von Trier’s Melancholia, Lee Smith in Alex Garland’sCivil War, and Mary Jane Watson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. Kirsten Dunst is also known for her frequent collaborations with Sofia Coppola, appearing in The Virgin Suicides, Marie Antoinette, The Bling Ring, and The Beguiled. Hess will return to direct, with Black, Momoa, Brooks, Berry, and Coolidge reprising their roles.
The sequel to A Minecraft Movie will hit theaters on July 23rd, 2027.
