New York Comic Con is in full swing, with plenty of announcements to share. One panel I attended on Thursday was for Mobile Suit Gundam: SEED Freedom Zero.

The English voice cast of the previous shows joined together to remember their series and moments. They were also joined by executive producer Naohiro Ogata and planning producer Kaori Shida.

The English voice cast consisted of Matt Hill (Kira Yamato, Sam Vincent (Athrun Zala), and Matthew Erickson (Shinn Asuka). They each reminisced about their favorite moments from the show and were happy to reunite once more.

The panel started with them talking about what fans can expect from Gundam. A bunch of new shows and products are being developed to celebrate the 50th anniversary. There will be a Gundam convention in Japan, and also a live-action series for Netflix.

Near the end of the panel, Kaori Shida asked the three VA’s if they would like to come back and voice their respective characters again in the upcoming movie. Obviously, they all agreed, and so it seems we have our English voice cast for the movie. The movie will also be coming to North American theaters in February 2027.

The director, Mitsuo Fukuda, shared a letter with the fans, saying that the project was shelved for so long, as it was the work of his late wife, Chiaki Morosawa. He eventually decided to release it after seeing all the support from the fans. He says how eager she was to depict and link together both ‘DESTINY’ and ‘FREEDOM’, and hopes the fans will enjoy it.
