The world of Disney is filled with wonder, magic, and memories that last a lifetime and extends to generations after. The same applies to the Disney parks. Imagined and later brought to life with Walt Disney’s guidance, Walt’s Disney World has been a staple in many core childhood and adult memories. Since the park's creation, attractions have come and gone while others were updated as time passed. Walt’s personal addition to the Disney World park, the Carousel of Progress, had an animatronic of himself. Given its historic and sentimental importance, Walt’s presence in the Carousel of Progress was due for an update. According to Nerdist, “Disney announced a big addition” back in August 2025 “to an iconic attraction that the company’s namesake personally created.” This announcement was meant to give a “refresh” to Walt’s part in the Carousel while “remaining true to his vision.”
Introduced in 1964 at the New York World’s Fair, the attraction and its animatronic stars later arrived at Disneyland’s Tomorrowland in 1967, where it remained until 1975, when it made its home at the Magic Kingdom. Since then, the Carousel became the “most performed American stage show.” Despite its various changes over the years, the Carousel’s “core” has “largely remained the same”. The Carousel will still have “Grandma’s secret love of wrestling, Sarah still doing most (though not all!) of the hard work, plenty of terrible/great jokes, and a family adapting to an ever-changing world.” The same show with its four acts—the 1960s, the 1980s, The New Millennium, and The Possible Future—with a different face. This new face will make its grand debut in 2027 as the Carousel begins construction on July 6, 2026. May more magic be made and continue forward.
