Ready to play Blue’s Clues again? Well, its original host, Steve Burns, is returning with a podcast that aims to be a continuation of the classic preschool show, only this time, it’s for adults, proving that he “never forgot you…ever.” The podcast, titled Alive, is being produced with Lemonada Media, and it will feature Burns and his guests discussing “what it means to stay human in a complicated world.” It will touch on themes such as mortality, masculinity, loneliness, and success. Burns’s inspiration from the project came after the actor shared a viral inspirational video as part of Nick Jr’s promotion of the 25th anniversary of Blue's Clues in 2021. Burns found himself connecting and “in conversation again with tens of millions of grown-up fans who still considered him a friend,” according to Lemonada. The actor also posts videos on social media where he asks the viewer how they’re doing and simply listens for minutes on end, which seems to have also inspired the upcoming podcast.

“There are a thousand podcasts you can listen to, this is one that listens back.” Steve describes the podcast, “I really want to continue what we started decades ago… For us, it was all about curious investigation. It was about looking a little closer. About asking the right questions. About following the clues that helped lead us toward greater understanding. ‘Alive’ is really just a continuation of that same conversation — only now we’re grown-ups, trying to make sense of a world that’s a whole lot more complicated. We’re still searching, still learning, still trying to connect. Still doing our best to lead deeply examined lives, together. And, you know, there’ll be less talking furniture, sure, but we’re still going to have a lot of fun along the way.”

Burns also recently announced a pop-up performance at the Club at La Ma Ma in Manhattan’s East Village neighborhood. Titled “Steve Burns Alive,” the show is his debut solo live show for adults and was written by him and Matthew Freeman.  It will run at the club from July 23-25.

Lemonada CEO Jessica Cordova Kramer says, “Adults need to be shepherded through life just as much as kids do, and Steve is the perfect person to do it…He taps right into your inner child, helping listeners feel delight, comfort and curiosity. From the moment we saw Steve’s videos on TikTok during the pandemic, we knew we had to work with him.”

Alive is set to premiere in the fall of this year, but no exact date has been announced at this time.
