It’s crazy to think that Critical Role, a show about nerdy-ass voice actors who play Dungeons & Dragons, has been going on for 10 years, and they have no plans on slowing down anytime soon. They have done various live shows to celebrate their 10th anniversary, and announced even more for 2026. The biggest announcement, however, came during their live show at Gen Con, which featured a much-awaited update about their next campaign.

Members of Critical Role announced that not only is Campaign 4 coming, but it will be released on October 2, 2025. It will feature a whole new world and characters that have never been explored before. It is still unknown whether they will continue to use D&D or switch to their own system, Daggerheart. The biggest news of the night, however, was that Matthew Mercer would not be returning to DM, and instead will hand that title to Brennan Lee Mulligan. Brennan is more than qualified to lead this full campaign, and it will be exciting to see what he does with it. Critters don’t panic, as Matt Mercer will still be in the game, but this time as a player character. Other members of Critical Role will be in the cast as well, including some new faces. The official cast has not been announced yet.

Critical Role campaign 4 releases on October 2nd, 2025, on their Twitch and YouTube channels, along with their own service, Beacon.
