Director Bryce Dallas Howard attended L.A. Comic Con and opened up about her Ahsoka Season 2 experience to fans in attendance. Howard directed episodes 4 and 5 of Ahsoka Season 2, and this isn’t the first time she’s lent her directing talents to a series set in this era. She earned accolades for her work on The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Skeleton Crew, with many fans urging Lucasfilm to give Bryce her own Star Wars movie. For now, she seems beyond satisfied with her collaboration with Dave Filoni on Ahsoka’s highly anticipated second season.
Howard enthusiastically described the second season and said, “It is so good! It is beautiful. It is thrilling. It is adventurous. It is romantic. It is all the things that we want from an epic story.” Dallas didn’t just use big words to hype fans up about Ahsoka Season 2, but sounded genuinely on cloud 9 regarding the entire experience, especially because of the man behind the series, Dave Filoni.
She admitted, “I adore Dave Filoni. I would do anything for and with Dave Filoni. He’s an extraordinary leader and visionary, he’s super funny, and the guy knows what he’s talking about.” She also confirmed that she “got to finish that up” and is “working on the cut”, which indicates the production may have wrapped up already. At Star Wars Celebration in Japan, Dave Filoni and Rosario Dawson confirmed that Rory McCann would replace the late Ray Stevenson as the majestic Baylan Skoll, and Hayden Christensen would return as Anakin Skywalker after a successful cameo in Season 1.

Howard’s enthusiasm was palpable as the audience cheered her on, especially when she mentioned Filoni. While Ahsoka Season 1 wasn’t universally praised, Filoni remains one of the most beloved Star Wars creative forces in recent years. Expectations from its second season are understandably higher, as many fans were unhappy with the overall writing and visuals from the first season. There’s a bigger scope expected, and with the season filming in the UK since early May, it is reasonable to believe that Dave Filoni is ready to change it up this time around.
The first season was shot in Los Angeles, but with filming taking place in the UK for Season 2, there should be plenty of picturesque shots and great cinematography this time. Recently, it was confirmed that cinematographer Baz Idoine, who previously worked as Director of Production on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and The Mandalorian Season 1 and Season 2, is working on Ahsoka Season 2 as well. The first two seasons of Mando and Rogue One are both praised for being visual masterpieces, and fans can expect the same from Ahsoka. Meanwhile, actors Rosario Dawson, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Eman Esfandi, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rory McCann, and Hayden Christensen have been confirmed for the series, which promises to be everything fans expect from Dave Filoni. Ahsoka Season 2 is set to premiere next year on Disney+.
