The 96th Academy Awards took place on March 10, 2024, honoring the movie releases of 2023. The film that took the most awards shouldn’t be much of a surprise, with Oppenheimer having seven across the 13 awards it was nominated for. Cillian Murphy won Actor in a Leading Role, while Robert Downey Jr. won Actor in a Supporting Role. The other five wins for Oppenheimer are in Cinematography, Directing, Film Editing, Music (Original Score), and Best Picture.

The film it released alongside which coined the term Barbenheimer, Barbie, was less successful. Having seven nominations, two of which were for Music (Original Song), that was the only win the film could get. ‘What Was I Made For?’ won out over ‘I’m Just Ken’. Other notable film wins include Emma Stone for Actress In A Leading Role giving Poor Things one of its four wins. The others wins for Poor Things are Costume Design, Makeup And Hairstyling, and Production Design.
