She’s back!

Star Wars Celebration kicked off in high gear with a slew of thrilling announcements and reveals. From the Ahsoka trailer, a quick glimpse of the back of Thrawn’s head, Sabine Wren, a Dave Filoni movie, a James Mangold movie, to more. Then Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, the director of one of the new movies coming, said she looks forward to telling more stories about heroes, referring to a Jedi Master.

Then out walks Daisy Ridley to Rey’s theme music. The crowd was ecstatic and Ridley beamed as she waved and thanked everyone for their praise.

Ridley’s Star Wars movie will be set about 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker and will be about Rey’s time as a Jedi Master trying to rebuild the Jedi Order. In fact, shots from the panels of Celebration reveal the logos for the new eras of the Star Wars timeline, and Rey’s new era will be called the New Jedi Order.

The last time Ridley appeared as the Jedi, Rey, was four years ago in Episode IX. Her absence from the franchise is likely a combination of events, one of which being the Bob Chapek era at Disney and the focus on Disney+ shows and a move away from movies. With Bob Iger returning to the helm, he’s stated that he wants to go back to a focus on movies.

Since Daisy Ridley’s movie is directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who was revealed to be directing the David Lindelof and Britt-Gibson written movie, until their departure and replacement with Steven Knight, that would mean the first Star Wars movie since The Rise of Skywalker will feature Rey. It’s unclear if this is meant to be part of the Skywalker Saga.

With Celebration going through April 10, expect to hear more about these upcoming projects!
