Daughter Of George A. Romero Making Directorial Debut With Zombie Drag Queen Movie

The daughter of George Romero (The Night of the Living Dead series), Tina Romero's directorial debut is due out just in time for Halloween. Queens of the Dead follows a zombie attack on a Drag Club in Brooklyn. But from the high joke count in the trailer, it appears that Tina Romero is giving Shaun of the Dead rather than The Walking Dead. Comedian, author, and playwright Erin Judge has assisted Romero on the script. Slay.
Queens of the Dead has a strong ensemble cast, with Nina West from Ru Paul’s Drag Race, season eleven, Jack Haven (Atypical), and Katy O’Brien (The Mandalorian, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania) among the standouts.
Queens of the Dead goes on cinematic release on October 24th, 2025. Since the film was funded independently, there’s no word as to whether it will go onto a streaming service afterwards, but if it performs as well as early expectations (it’s already picked up two film festival awards), it’s likely one of them will swoop in.
George Romero passed away in 2017, so he sadly won’t get to see his daughter follow him into the horror genre, but in interviews, Tina Romero states that he did give his blessing. Let's see if she can make just as big of an impact!
