It’s been a long wait for the first public look at The Mandalorian and Grogu since the private teaser at Star Wars Celebration. Now that the trailer has arrived, it shows the titular duo in action, alongside seeing some other characters who will appear in the film.
The logline for the film reveals, “The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu.”
During this trailer, there are many scenes of Grogu being cute, such as climbing onto a table and using the Force to try stealing Sigourney Weaver’s character’s food. There’s plenty of action, such as a quick shot of Zeb attacking some Stormtroopers. And several shots that tell us Din Djarin has a new ship that looks pretty similar to his old one. Also seen in the trailer is Rotta the Hutt, who is voiced by Jeremy Allen White, and some Anzellans – who it seems Grogu will be working with. The trailer ends with the destruction of an AT-AT, which falls off the snowy cliff path it was walking on.
Jon Favreau, who is directing The Mandalorian and Grogu, said when it was first announced, “I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”
The trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu can be seen below, with the film arriving in theatres on May 22, 2026.
