The DC universe continues in a state of flux as the new leaders of the studio, James Gunn and Peter Safran, prepare for a meeting with DC CEO David Zaslav slated for next week. The pair is developing a plan for the next five years or so of DC content, which will not include Patty JenkinsWonder Woman 3, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

According to sources close to the matter, CEOs Michael De Luca, Pamela Abdy, James Gunn, and Peter Safran informed Jenkins how the project did not fit with the evolving plans for the DC saga. The costs of the film did not play a factor; however, with the third film not moving forward, the studio stands to save millions of dollars. Gal Gadot stood to receive $20 million to return as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, and director Patty Jenkins was to make $12 million from the project.

In an oddly-timed social media post, Gal Gadot tweeted a thank you to fans before the news broke, saying, “Can’t wait to share her next chapter with you.” Whether the third film remains removed from the project list is yet to be seen, due to the ever-evolving and hush-hush nature of Gunn and Safran’s plans for the DC universe.
