Disney Experiences has just announced plans to add a new, seventh park to its portfolio. This new park, joining the likes of Disney World, will be in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, on Yas Island. Ys Island contains several other theme parks, such as Ferrari World and Warner Bros. World. For the first time in history, the running of the park will be outsourced to Miral, an entertainment management company that runs many of the parks in Yas Island. Disney will only be providing its IP and “development and management services”. No opening date has been given as of this article’s publication.

Josh D’Amaro, Disney Experiences, has said that this new park will be “the most advanced and interactive destination in our portfolio.” He also hinted that the close proximity to the Persian Gulf may play a role in the park. Disney CEO Bob Iger has also stated, “This is a thrilling moment for our company as we announce plans to build an exciting Disney theme park resort in Abu Dhabi, whose culture is rich with an appreciation of the arts and creativity.” American visitors will likely be apathetic, given the distance between the USA and the UAE. Still, some people are sure to be excited for this new opportunity.
