Doctor Doom Actor Julian McMahon Has Passed Away Aged 56

Prolific actorJulian McMahon passed away from cancer at the age of 56 in Clearwater, Florida on July 2. His wife, Kelly, shared her sentiments with Deadline, “Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible. We ask for support during this time to allow our family to grieve in privacy. And we wish for all of those to whom Julian brought joy, to continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories.”

McMahon was born in Sydney, Australia on July 27, 1968. He started his entertainment career as a model before making the switch to acting with the Australian soap The Power, The Passion. He also appeared on the popular Home and Away soap. His big break came in 1992 where he starred opposite Elliot Gould in Wet and Wild Summer! Since then, he has appeared in a variety of movies and TV shows. Notably, he played Doctor Doom in the two Fantastic Four films by Fox. He also played Cole Turner in Charmed. His co-star Alyssa Milano expressed fondness for the actor after hearing the news. She said, “Julian McMahon was magic. That smile. That laugh. That talent. That presence. Julian was more than my TV husband. He was a dear friend. Losing him feels unreal. Too soon. Too unfair. Rest, my friend. I’ll carry your laugh with me. Forever Cole. Forever Julian.”

McMahon’s biggest role came with Ryan Murphy’s plastic surgery drama Nip/Tuck, which earned the actor a Golden Globe. He and Dylan Wash were the series leads. Walsh shared a tribute to his co-star, “We rode this wave together and I loved him. My heart goes out to Kelly and Maddy [McMahon’s daughter]. Jules! I know you’d want me to say something to make you smile — all the inside jokes. All those years you had my back, and my god, we laughed. My heart is with you. Rest in peace.”
