Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino, has had some serious health problems in recent years. He was 18 shows into The New World Tour 2024 when he canceled the remaining dates with no specific explanation beyond vague health problems; this was meant to be the final tour where the artist used his stage persona. During his set at the 2025 Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, Glover explained the state of his health and why the rest of the tour dates were canceled.
Glover identified a key moment where he knew something was wrong health-wise (via The Hollywood Reporter), “I had a really bad pain in my head in Louisiana, and I did the show anyway. I couldn’t really see well, so when we went to Houston, I went to the hospital, and the doctor was like, ‘You had a stroke.’” He continued, explaining his internal reaction to the news, “And the first thing I thought was like, ‘Oh, here I am still copying Jamie Foxx.’ That’s really like the second thing. The first thing was like, ‘I’m letting everybody down.’”

His stroke was just the tip of the iceberg. The artist opened up further about his health struggles, “I broke my foot… They found a hole in my heart… so I had this surgery, and then I had to have another surgery.” Glover wrapped up his comments with a heartfelt reflection on living life, “They say everybody has two lives, and the second life starts when you realize you have one. You got one life, guys. And I gotta be honest, the life I've lived with you guys has been such a blessing… You should be living your life how you want. If we have to do this again, it can only get better.”
