First Look At 'Superman' Sequel

James Gunn has given a sneak peek at the upcoming Superman sequel on his Instagram. Lex Luthor’s Warsuit design was revealed! While referencing the comics in its blocky mech-suit design, it features a darker green color palette with what appear to be black highlights. Luthor is standing in a very dark, sandy environment. In the comics, this is what the billionaire villain would use to try to level the playing field with Superman. In this film, Luthor will be using the suit to team up with the titular hero to face Brainiac. This is a small glimpse into the film's design, and it confirms that the film’s development is on schedule, as production was projected to begin in the summer of 2026.
Superman: Man of Tomorrow (2027) is the seventh installment of the first chapter of the DC reboot, titled Gods and Monsters. While plot specificities are somewhat under wraps, Gunn described the film, "It’s a story about Lex Luthor and Superman having to work together to a certain degree against a much, much bigger threat. It’s more complicated than that, but that’s a big part of it.” He continued, "It’s as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie.” The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 9, 2027. To stay caught up on the timeline, Supergirl is scheduled to hit theaters on June 26, 2026, and Superman (2025) is available to stream on HBO Max.
