First Star To Join 'Dungeon Crawler Carl' TV Series Has Been Announced.

It’s San Diego Comic Con, and the news is already pouring out about everything from Marvel to Dungeon Crawler Carl. The smashing LitRPG success made headlines when it was announced that it would be adapted into a television show on Peacock, with Seth MacFarlane helming the project. The author of the series, Matt Dinniman, has been tightlipped about casting news, merely telling crowds at press events for his books that news will be coming soon.
With a panel on the first day of SDCC, that news, or at least some of it, is here. Jeff Hays, founder of Soundbooth Theater and voice actor who reads the Dungeon Crawler Carl audiobooks, has been cast as Princess Donut, the feline companion of Carl (the titular character).

Both Dinniman and Chris Yost, who is executive producing and writing for the show, revealed Hays’ casting to the crowd at the Dungeon Crawler Carl panel.

Dungeon Crawler Carl is a runaway LitRPG success that features Carl, a former member of the Coast Guard, and his ex-girlfriend’s cat, Princess Donut, whom are drawn into an alien game show that has transformed Earth into a life-and-death dungeon crawl for the galaxy’s entertainment. Early on in the first book, Donut gains the ability to speak, hence the casting of a voice actor for the role. The books are narrated on Audible by Hays, and his portrayal of Princess Donut has earned the admiration of millions of listeners who urge people to listen to the books because of Hays’ performance.
The series is being developed for Peacock and is in early production. No further casting has been announced as of yet, particularly with regard to who will play Carl, but in a recent interview, Seth Green, who has ties to Seth MacFarlane through Family Guy, has expressed interest in playing Mordecai, Carl and Donut’s guide through the dungeon.
